Victor Chandler has been one of the best known and most respected names in bookmaking for more than six decade and the decison was made to re-brand to a more mofern name in Januray 2012 with the global launch of BetVictor.

BACKGROUND

Victor Chandler was established bearing the name of its owner in 1946 although family connections with betting can be traced back to 1925 when Victor’s grandfather, William opened Walthamstow Greyhound Stadium.

Victor Chandler began to expand after betting shops were legalised in the 1963 Betting & Gaming Act and the bookmaker opened betting shops in several locations across the south-east of England. In 1975 the current Victor Chandler took over the management of the bookmaking operation and set up a series of high profile racecourse pitches.

In the early 1990’s Victor Chandler began accepting telephone bets offshore from customers in the Far East, including a number of “high rollers”.

In a pioneering move in 1998 Victor Chandler switched the entire betting operation to Gibraltar and became the first UK bookmaker to offer “tax free” betting to its customers.

Over the last decade, Victor Chandler has expanded its internet betting considerably and now boasts offices in Macau, Kuala Lumpur and Buenos Aires with the company estimated to have turnover in excess of £1billion with over half a million customers in 160 different countries .

Victor Chandler has always had a reputation as a bookmaker who is prepared to accept a large bet and is frequently referred to as the “gentleman bookmaker”.

The holding company VC International is 45% owned by Victor himself and 45% owned by Michael Tabor with the other 10% being owned by staff . Michael Tabor is a very wealthy racehorse owner and businessman who owned the Arthur Prince chain of betting shops during the 1990's before selling to Coral.

In January 2012 the name was changed to BetVictor and the website upgraded to portray a modern style more fitting to its customers needs.

The BetVictor home page has been freshened up with a light and bright, blue and white theme. The website is very well laid out, modern in design and the developers have delivered a fast loading website.

At the top of the BetVictor home page is an interactive slideshow of pictures portaying the most appropriate current offers and featured betting events. A separate tab at the top of the page takes you to the live betting application while the upcoming and current live betting opportuinities command centre stage on the home page.

As is the norm on online betting sites, BetVictor have retained the navigation side bar to link to its sports betting markets.
