Murray price drops for Australian Open glory

Tagged under: Tennis

Andy Murray has been dropped to 9/2 with BlueSQ and 888sport to win the Australian Open after his third round win over France’s Florent Serra. Murray, who is yet to drop a set in the tournament so far, has also seen off the challenge of South African Kevin Anderson and Frenchman Marc Gicquel and faces tricky American 33 seed John Isner in the last 16. Isner has already sprung a surprise in this tournament by beating 12th seed Gaël Monfils and will provide Murray’s strongest test of the tournament to date but that hasn’t stopped the bookies backing the Brit, making him the clear third favourite ahead of Novak Djokovic. Roger Federer remains the favourite at 11/4 with Rafael Nadal currently priced at 4/1. Behind Murray is Djokovic at 5’s with sixth seed Nikolay Davydenko fifth favourite at 7/1. A couple of unconvincing wins, Argentine fourth seed Juan Martín del Potro has drifted out to 10/1 whilst Andy Roddick is still down as one of the dark horses at 16/1.
