Jorge Lorenzo Aims to Make the Final MotoGP Test

Jorge Lorenzo Aims to Make the Final MotoGP Test Jorge Lorenzo has told reporters that he hopes he will make the final MotoGP pre-season test later this month as he continues to recover from a hand injury he suffered in training. The Fiat Yamaha rider and team mate to Valentino Rossi missed the second test and his manager said there were “serious doubts” over whether he would be fit for the third one. But after a promotional tour of Asia Yamaha Lorenzo hopes to be fit in time for the Qatar test on 18-19 March. The 2010 championship starts at the same venue on Sunday 11 April. Lorenzo who finished runner-up to Rossi last season was third fastest behind Rossi and Ducati Rider Casey Stoner at the first pre-season test at Malaysia in early February. But the 22 year old fractured a bone in his right hand falling off a motocross bike in training and was forced to miss the second test, also in Malaysia, where Rossi was once again the fastest rider. Lorenzo would hope to be putting as much pressure on world champion Rossi right from the start of the new season, so if he did only manage to take part in one Qatar pre-season test, it would give Rossi a huge psychological advantage. Despite being team mates for Fiat Yamaha, the pair have an intense rivalry and had a divided garage last year, a set-up they confirmed they will keep in 2010. Lorenzo spoke seriously about leaving Yamaha last season, saying he did not always feel appreciated, before eventually signing a new one-year deal, while Rossi had made it clear he does not feel there is room for both rider in the team. Although I think any rider would struggle to partner the colourful character (Rossi) in team Fiat Yamaha. Jorge Lorenzo will struggle to keep up with a lack of testing and a recently injured hand when the season starts not long from now, he currently is looking at 3rd favourite with odds of 11/2 at bwin to win the title behind Casey Stoner who has had a less eventful but quick practice season, 9/4 to take the 2010 crown at sportingbet. The Favourite to win is obvious, Valentino Rossi at 13/8 at William Hill. If you want an outside bet, try rookie Ben Spies at 28/1 at 888sport.
