Carlton House Backed For Derby On Exchanges Following Thursday Canter

The Queen may yet have a runner in the Investec Epsom Derby on Saturday as early reports suggest that Carlton House worked satisfactorily this morning in an early morning canter that is expected to determine whether the colt can take his chance in Saturday's Classic .

Having drifted to over 5.2 on Betfair overnight , Carlton House was backed in to around 3/1 on Thursday morning following news of the gallop .

A final decision on whether Carlton House will run in the Investec Derby is now expected on Friday after reviewing how the injury reacts to this morning's canter . 

Her Majesty's racing manager, John Warren, said: "We've got the next few days to see if it (the ankle strain) is cooling itself down - that's going to be key." 

Speaking on Talksport yesterday however Warren warned that :

"He won't run unless the trainer is completely content that he's sound." and added , "By Friday we'll know more."
