Trainer Roger Varian’s three-year-old has impressed in winning her three career starts, but the Newmarket handler wants to wait until the autumn before pitting the daughter of Selkirk against top company.
"We're not going for the Nassau. We are going to give her a bit more time," said Varian. "She's perfectly fine, but I want her to see the season out strongly in the autumn. I'm not quite sure where we are going to go next, but it won't be for a little while.
“I think she will get 10 furlongs and could be versatile come the autumn. She goes on easy ground," he added.
Aiden O’Brien’s Misty For Me leads the betting market for Saturday’s showpiece over 1 mile 1 furlong and 192 yards. The Irish 1000 Guineas winner is generally available at odds of 2/1 for the fillies and mares contest and has already beaten one of her main market rivals.
Henry Cecil’s high class mare, Midday, was 1/3 to win the Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh four weeks ago but found the Michael Tabor-owned three-year-old too good that day, going down by six lengths in second place. Cecil’s five-year-old is available at odds of 3/1 to turn the tables when they meet again on the West Sussex course.
Ed Dunlop’s Snow Fairy is vying for second favouritism in the Nassau stakes ante-post market, the 2010 Epsom Oaks winner made her seasonal debut in the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown earlier in the month when she finished fourth behind So You Think and Workforce. She enjoyed a brief winter campaign in Japan and Hong Kong where she won two Grade 1 contests in two runs and is best priced at 11/4 with SkyBet and Paddy Power for Saturday’s race.
