Lescott said: “There’s a lot to play for and if we win we qualify though I’m sure they’ll be thinking the same kind of thing. But we need to go there knowing that if we don’t win, it’s not the end of the world.
“We’ve still got to play Bayern at home in our final game, but we’re confident we can beat most teams.”
Manchester City maintained their five-point advantage at the top of the Premier League when scoring three goals for the fourth consecutive game to beat Newcastle United 3-1 on Saturday. Mario Balotelli and Sergio Aguero were on the mark again for free scoring City with a penalty goal apiece. Manchester City have now scored 57 goals in 17 domestic and Champions League games this season and with the attacking prowess of Aguero, Balotelli and Edin Dzeko have the firepower to challenge the best in Europe.
