Betfred Offer Non Runner No Bet On Cheltenham Gold Cup

Betfred who will this year sponsor the Cheltenham Gold Cup for the first time are offering the non runner no bet concession on all bets on the race from 8.30am today .

The Cheltenham Gold Cup was previously sponsored by Totesport but following Betfred's acquisition of the Tote in 2011 the naming rights to the feature race of the Cheltenham Festival have passed to the Warrington based bookmaker.

The 2012 Cheltenham Gold Cup looks set to be another memorable encounter with chasing's established superstars ,Kauto Star and Long Run set to lock horns again .

A 34 strong field was announced for the race yesterday with Paul Nicholls responsible for five entries , Kauto Star, The Minnack, Tidal Way, Poquelin and What A Friend, who finished fourth last year and is jointly-owned by Sir Alex Ferguson.

Kauto Star has of course won the Cheltenham Gold Cup twice and has now beaten Long Run in his last two races , memorably in the King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day and in the Betfair Chase at Haydock . It is Long Run though that remains the ante-post favourite for the 2012 Cheltenham Gold Cup and last year's winner has been aimed at a repeat Gold cup win all season and Nicky Henderson is sure to have his horse at peak fitness come March 16th.

Betfred are keen to get Long Run however and are offering clear best odds at 11/4 for the seven year old to retain his crown . As is expected of the sponsors Betfred are offering very competitive odds for all of the expected Cheltenham Gold Cup runners and are also joint best odds for Kauto Star at 4/1 and the well fancied Captain Chris at 16/1 .

Some of these odds will not be around on the day of the race and with the non runner no bet concession there is no harm in taking advantage of good odds now as you will have your stake returned if for whatever reason your horse does not run .
