Will 2012 Be The Year Of The Tiger ?
Tagged under: US Masters

Tiger Woods will make his seasonal debut this week in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship and the former World No.1 will be the centre of attention as he attempts to start off where he left 2011, in winning form.
Woods will recieve a $2.5M appearance fee for playing in Abu Dhabi but having won the Chevron World Challenge in his final event of 2011 there is no doubt that Tiger will be seeking to start the New Year with a bang, or at least a continuation of the improved form he showed throughout the last three months of 2011.
By the end of last season, he seemed to have glued all necessary working parts — physical, confidence, swing changes into something that resembles the Tiger Woods we used to know.
The main aim for Tiger Woods in 2012 however is to win another Major title and the Masters in April will already be uppermost on his mind.
With fourteen Major's to his name Tiger is still four Majors short of Jack Nicklaus and this has been his life long target . However Tiger has not won a Major since the 2008 US Open and it is now almost seven years since his amazing victory over Chris DiMarco at the 2005 US Masters (remember that chip in ?).
Woods’ game may be rounding into shape, but his success won’t be entirely dependent upon his own actions as the quality of his rivals has increased dramatically in the last few years.
Few can doubt the talent of Rory McIlroy or Martin Kaymer or of course World No.1 Luke Donald and it is somewhat of a suprise to see Tiger Woods as favourite for the 2012 US Masters.
Ladbrokes currently offer best odds for Woods at 6/1 but surely Rory McIlroy at 8/1 , Westwood 16/1 or Donald at 18/1 represent better value.
If 2012 is the Year of The Tiger it will surely be because he wins a Major . If you have an opinion go to Betfred who offer odds of 1/2 that Tiger does not win a Major in 2012 and odds of 7/5 that he does.
