    Match Preview

Two time World Cup winners Argentina will be quietly confident that they can overcome Switzerland in the last 16, but will need to do a professional job to reach the quarter finals.

Argentina go into the Second Round match in Sau Paulo as firm favourites at best odds 1/2 with Bet365, but have not been overly convincing despite winning all three of their group games. Lionel Messi scored the winning goals in narrow wins over Bosnia-Herzegovina and Iran before bagging a brace in the 3-2 triumph over Nigeria, so it would seem that keeping the Barcelona forward quiet will be key to Switzerland's chances. The fact that Argentina are grinding out the wins when they are yet to peak suggests they can get the job done and if the likes of Gonzalo Higuain and Ezequeil Lavezzi can ease the goal-scoring burdon on Messi then Switzerland's World Cup adventure may be cut short.

Schweizer Nati have had a mixed bag of results during the World Cup, they showed their resilience to come from behind to beat Ecuador 2-1, but were subsequently hammered 5-2 by France. Ottmar Hitzfeld's side were able to bounce back with a 3-0 win over Honduras enough to see them through as Group E runners-up with all three goals being scored by Xherdan Shaqiri. Switzerland arrived in Brazil on the back of a highly successful qualification campaign where they kept 7 clean sheets to top their pool, but defensive frailties were exposed against France and Argentina will be looking to exploit any remaining weaknesses in their back line.

Lionel Messi is regarded as the dangerman for Argentina and he will be looking to add to his tally as he chases down Colombia's James Rodríguez and Germany's Thomas Müller in search of the World Cup Top Goalscorer award. If you fancy backing Messi to score first, 888Sport are quoting best odds of 37/13. Switzerland haven't looked convincing in front of goal, but Xherdan Shaqiri's hat-trick against Honduras will have Argentina's defenders on red alert in Sao Paulo and he can be backed at 17/4 with Spreadex to score in 90 minutes.
