19-year-old Raheem Sterling earned a dream call-up to the 2014 World Cup for England, following a fine season with Liverpool in 2013/14. 10 season goals made him a regular star for the Scousers, and the youngster could reward punters with his relatively long betting odds for the World Cup in individual goalscorer markets should he feature regularly for England this summer and rack up his first international goals.
Sterling was signed by Liverpool from the Academy at Queens Park Rangers in February 2010 by Rafael Benítez, becoming a regular goalscorer and most notably notching up a total of five goals during a 9–0 win over Southend United a year later.
Sterling made his senior Liverpool debut as a substitute against Wigan Athletic on 24 March 2012, scoring his first goal during a friendly against Bayer Leverkusen.
Named as one of the six players on the shortlist for the PFA Young Player of the Year in 2014, Sterling has since scored 11 times in 57 Premier League appearances for the Reds and scored crucial goals against the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City.
Initially only eligible to represent Jamaica at international level despite living in England since the age of five, FIFA's agreements later allowed for Sterling to be eligible to play for his home country in 2009. He then scored a long-range effort against Rwanda after being selected to play for the 2011 U-17 World Cup, scoring also against Argentina.
Sterling's senior England debut came in November 2012 during a friendly away to Sweden, before being named man of the match against Denmark in a 1-0 friendly victory at Wembley Stadium in his only other cap.
Raheem Sterling World Cup Betting Tips
Despite his winger's role, England fans will admire the trickery and determination he brings if he is a regular choice this summer. A consistent goalscorer in the second half of the Premier League season, Sterling will be one of England's best World Cup betting tips based on longer betting odds in individual goalscorer markets than Liverpool team-mates, Steven Gerrard and Daniel Sturridge.
