  • Reza Ghoochannejhad may be one of Iran's most dangerous players to look out for in the 2014 World Cup, having scored nine goals in just 13 appearances for his country. Scoring a goal in seven consecutive matches during that time, Ghoochannejhad could be a handsome betting tip in individual goalscorer markets should he find the target for the Group F underdogs.

A talented violinist born in Mashhad, Ghoochannejhad emigrated to the Netherlands when he was eight years old and spent 12 years in Heerenveen's academy until 2005. Ghoochannejhad made his senior Heerenveen debut against AZ Alkmaar in 2006, before moving to the Go Ahead Eagles later that year.

He signed for the Dutch side and made 27 appearances up until 2010, scoring 11 goals. In between his time at the club, he spent a loan spell at FC Emmen before moving to fellow Eredivisie rivals Cambuur in 2010.

Ghoochannejhad ironically scored a hat-trick against Emmen during his 41 appearances with Cambuur, before spending three years which Belgian clubs Sint-Truiden and Standard Liège between 2011 and 2014.

In Belgium he continued to show his goalscoring talents, with 25 goals in 41 appearances. In January 2014, Ghoochannejhad joined Championship side Charlton Athletic.

Ghoochannejhad represented the Netherlands from 2003 to 2007 before his debut with Iran came in 2012. He has since been impressive for the Asian side, and already notched up an impressive total of nine goals in his 13 senior international appearances.

In five 2014 World Cup qualifying appearances for Iran, Ghoochannejhad scored a goal in three of those in what became a run of seven consecutive international games where he scored.

That goalscoring streak makes Ghoochannejhad one of Iran's most significant players for their Group F battle with Argentina, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Nigeria, the striker a safer betting tip for Iran's top goalscorer. His attacking play makes him very profitable in individual goalscorer markets, while Iran's tough opponents mean their longer player odds could potentially extend.

Back Ghoochannejhad to be Iran's top scorer at 6/1 with Bet365.
