  • Part of Bayern Munich’s Champions League-winning side last year, Toni Kroos will be at the centre of Germany’s playmaking this summer. From his midfield role, Kroos is known for his passing accuracy and ability to set up goals. He can put away his chances when they fall but is a better betting tip to provide an assist than be the goalscorer in 2014 World Cup match betting.

Kroos began his career at local football club Greifswalder SC before transferring to Hansa Rostock's youth team and later moving to Bayern Munich in 2006, where he began in the German side's youth squad before being promoted to the senior team in 2007–08 season at the age of 17.

Fast out of the blocks in the Bundesliga, Kroos assisted two Miroslav Klose goals in a 5-0 win on his debut appearance at Bayern Munich, claiming the 2007–08 and 2012–13 league titles during a Bayern career that still spans with over 20 goals by February 2014.

Playing in his central and attacking midfield role, Kroos only interloped his time at Bayern with a loan spell at Bayer Leverkusen when a deal was made on 31 January 2009. Their German rivals allowed Kroos to join and he duly made 48 appearances with Leverkusen and scored 10 goals, as well as 12 assists in the 2009–10 league season.

Kroos played an important role in Bayern's sublime 2012–13 season in which they claimed the Bundesliga title, the 2013 DFB-Pokal Final and of course, the Champions League crown, although he missed the final of both due to an injury sustained during the quarter final stages of the latter in a season which he netted nine goals in 37 appearances.

Kroos has played 41 times for Germany's national squad up until 2014 and scored a total of five goals. This summer will see Kroos enter his second World Cup, having made seven goalless appearances for Germany during the 2010 tournament.

Kroos had previously been top goal scorer at the 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup, although his chances of doing the same match the long betting odds that arrive with the bookmakers. He did however play his part during the 2014 World Cup qualifying stages, netting three goals during that period in eight appearances.

Toni Kroos World Cup Betting Tips

Goal scorers within the German side may be difficult considering the combined ability throughout the team, but Kroos' presence will make him a decent World Cup betting tip to provide the assists for the likes of Thomas Muller and Miroslav Klose. Also factor Kroos as a potential player of the tournament, a gamble that could pay off at big odds.

Back Kroos at 33/1 to be Germany's top scorer with BetVictor.
