Radamel Falcao's injury dealt a blow to Colombia's 2014 World Cup chances, however they should still reach the Second Round by qualifying out of their group.
Falcao's absence may be felt more in a Second Round clash with one of three former World Cup winners, which could severely hamper their chances of reaching the quarter-finals.
HOW COLOMBIA GOT TO THE 2014 WORLD CUP
Colombia claimed one of the four automatic qualification places by finishing second in the CONMEBOL table, just two points behind Argentina.
Keeping six clean sheets in their 16 matches, the Colombians were also able to record heavy 5-0 and 4-0 wins over Bolivia and Uruguay respectively - as they finished five points clear of the Fifth-place Playoff spot.
COLOMBIA MANAGER AND TRACK RECORD
Manager Jose Pekerman led his native Argentina to the 2006 World Cup quarter-finals, before using all of his experience to help Colombia qualify for their first World Cup in 16 years.
Following their progression to the Second Round in 1990, Pekerman has a good chance of matching - if not bettering - Colombia's best showing from their previous four World Cup appearances in Brazil.
COLOMBIA KEY PLAYER
With the devastating loss of Falcao for the tournament, Colombia will look to James Rodriguez to make the step up in his abscence.
Rodriguez scored three goals during qualifying - including pivotal winners against Peru and Ecuador - to help Colombia to secure their 2014 World Cup spot.
And the responsibility of filling in for Falcao will not be a new experience for Rodriguez, who has had to do the same at club level for AS Monaco - after joining from Porto for an estimated €45 million last summer.
COLOMBIA 2014 WORLD CUP BETTING TIP
With a relatively straight-forward group for the Colombians, expect them to at least progress into the knockout stages.
However, with one of Uruguay, Italy or England waiting for them in the last-16 of the 2014 World Cup, back Colombia to be eliminated in the Second Round.
