Don't expect to see Iran remain in the 2014 World Cup for long - as they're predicted to be eliminated in the Group Stage for the fourth time in their history.
Iran have never qualified out of the group in any of their previous three World Cup appearances and the 2014 World Cup betting markets suggest it will be the same old story for the Asian side this summer.
HOW IRAN GOT TO THE 2014 WORLD CUP
Qualifying for AFC Qualification Round Three with a 5-0 aggregate win over Maldives, Iran then topped Group E to progress to the next round of qualifying.
Group A was closely fought, but Iran booked their 2014 World Cup place by claiming top spot ahead of South Korea - who also automatically qualified in second - and Uzbekistan by just two points.
IRAN MANAGER AND TRACK RECORD
Former Real Madrid and Portugal manager Carlos Queiroz will be in the Iran dugout this summer, to oversee their fourth appearance at a World Cup tournament.
However, he is not fancied to better any of the three-time Asian Cup winner's previous attempts - as Iran were eliminated in the Group Stage of each of the 1978, 1998 and 2006 competitions.
IRAN KEY PLAYER
Appearing in his second World Cup finals, this summer's tournament is likely to be Iran captain Javad Nekounam's International swansong.
However, the 33-year-old will still carry the weight of his country on his shoulders - as the defensive midfielder will not only be expected to break up the opposition's attacks, but he is also Iran's primary playmaker when in possession of the ball.
Nekounam has made 135 appearances for Iran - scoring 37 goals - since making his debut back in 2000 and the former Osasuna man will look to continue the good form he has enjoyed at club side Al-Kuwait this season.
IRAN 2014 WORLD CUP BETTING TIP
Given next to no chance of qualifying out of the group in the 2014 World Cup betting markets, it seems Iran's only chance of claiming any points in Group F will be in their first game against Nigeria.
However - with a number of Nigerian players plying their trade in Europe's top leagues - Iran look to be second best in that encounter too, so make sure you back them to finish bottom of Group F.
