Matt thinks Lionel Messi will continue his goal-scoring form against Switzerland and advises backing the Argentina forward to score first at best odds 37/13 with 888Sport.

Argentina are yet to come to life as a team despite winning all three of their group matches and they owe their place in the Second Round to the inspirational form of Lionel Messi. The Barcelona forward scored with a superb strike as Argentina began their World Cup campaign with a 2-1 win over Bosnia-Herzegovina and curled in a stunning goal in the 91st-minute to seal a 1-0 win over Iran. Messi then netted twice in Argentina's 3-2 victory over Nigeria and will be aiming to boost his tally against Switzerland as he eyes the World Cup Top Goalscorer prize.

Switzerland have had a mixed bag of results during the World Cup, they showed their resilience to come from behind to beat Ecuador 2-1, but were subsequently hammered 5-2 by France. Ottmar Hitzfeld's side were however able to bounce back with a 3-0 win over Honduras enough to see them through as Group E runners-up. The defensive frailties which were exposed by France remain a concern and if any player is likely to take full advantage of any mistakes and extra space in the final third it's Lionel Messi.

Argentina will be without Sergio Agüero for the remainder of the tournament after he was ruled out through injury meaning Ezequiel Lavezzi is expected to come into the starting XI on the left of a three-pronged attack with Gonzalo Higuain in the centre and Lionel Messi ready to cut in from the right where he is seen to best effect.

Xherdan Shaqiri will start behind Josip Drmic after the two combined brilliantly for Switzerland against Honduras with the latter bagging a hat-trick. Elsewhere Gökhan Inler and Valon Behrami will be hoping to start, while Fabian Schär is expected to keep his place in the starting XI having played well in the last match.
