Colombia take on Greece in the opening Group C match at Belo Horizonte and both sides will fancy their chances of making a decent start in what looks to be quite an open group.
Colombia will be hoping to have Radamel Falcao fit for the opening game and they justifiably head into the match as favourites after an impressive qualifying campaign which saw them finish just two points behind Argentina. Familiarity with the South American climate may also come into play and work in Tricolor's favour, but Greece are notoriously hard to break down and it won't be easy to sink the Pirate Ship. There have been under 2.5 goals scored in six of Greece's last seven World Cup matches of which they have lost none.
With those statistics in mind backing the draw would seem the sensible option, while taking a Correct Score bet of 1-1 would boost your potential returns substantially. Those playing the First Goalscorer market will find Jackson Martinez a viable alternative to Falcao should the main man not make the game, while Greece's heavy reliance on set pieces brings the heading ability of Vasilis Torosidis into play making him a decent shout to score anytime at longer odds than the obvious Dimitris Salpingidis.
