World Cup regulars Mexico will be targeting a good start to the tournament when they take on Cameroon, but the Indomitable Lions have aspirations of their own after stumbling at the group stage in their last four attempts.
This is Mexico's sixth consecutive appearance at the World Cup finals, but they had to ride their luck in the play-offs to make it to Brazil 2014, as did Cameroon. Neither side has posted their best form of late and as opening games are often nervous affairs, the value bet could be on the draw. Both teams may be reluctant to take any risks at this early stage and with that in mind a bet on there being under 2.5 goals in the match may also be advisable.
A bet on the game ending 1-1 could be the way to go if having a dabble on the Correct Score market with Mexico's Oribe Peralta the smart pick in First Goalscorer betting, while Cameroon's Samuel Eto'o has obvious appeal if you fancy the African side to get the first goal in this Group A encounter.
