Unibet continued it's sponsorship of the Masters in 2015 which was played for the first time at the Arena MK in Milton Keynes between 31 January and 1 February. The tournament carried a purse of £200,000, with £60,000 going to whe winner and £25,000 to the runner-up.
The Masters is played in a knockout format with the top 16 darts players according to the PDC Order of Merit seeded in the tournament. The Order of Merit is a ranking system which takes into account prize money won by players over the past two seasons, so expect the very best darts players of the moment to be in attendance. The first round is played over best of 11 legs, the quarter finals are played over best of 15 legs, the semi finals and the final are played over best of 19 legs.
The inaugural tournament was won in emphatic fashion by legend of darts Phil Taylor. The Power smashed Adrian Lewis 10-1 in the final with an average of 108.50 for the night, but was only able to make it to the semi-final in where he was beaten by subsequent winner James Wade.
The Power was embarrassed in the first round this year with an unexpected loss to Terry Jenkins. James Wade was the defending champion, having beaten Mervyn King 11-10 in a thrilling final in 2014, but he lost to Gary Anderson in the quarter-finals. Michael van Gerwen won his first Masters title by defeating fellow countryman Raymond van Barneveld 11–6 in the final.
