Arsenal are in red hot form going into their Premier League match against Stoke City on Saturday. The Gunners come off the back of finishing on top of the pile in the Champions group stage for the first time in five years. Paris Saint-Germain slipped up at home to Ludogorets and handed Arsenal the hope of getting a winnable last 16 tie for the first time this decade.
Arsene Wenger claimed that he was comfortable with second but started with a strong team in Switzerland in case the French champions fudged things up in Paris. They got off to a terrific start, scoring after only eight minutes. Lucas Perez was in fine form and after that initial opener, would go on to grab two more to complete a hat-trick.
Alex Iwobi scored the other goal in a 4-1 win. The performances of his attackers will give Wenger the best kind of selection headache possible.
The fact that both Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez started the game was a concern for Arsenal fans. After all, it wasn’t long ago that Wenger was cursing Chile for taking ‘suicidal’ risks with the overworked attacker. His decision not to rest his star confirmed his hypocrisy.
And you better believe that Sanchez will start again when the Gunners host Stoke. Mark Hughes’ side have been quietly going about their business and sit ninth in the table, just two points behind sixth-place Man United. They could go ahead of them this weekend but that’s highly unlikely. With Arsenal in this form, we at FreeBets can see them winning at a canter.
