Mexico 2022 World Cup Squad

The Mexico 2022 World Cup squad has been announced and here is who will be playing for them in Qatar.

  • Goalkeepers: Guillermo Ochoa (America), Alfredo Talavera (Juarez), Rodolfo Cota (Leon).
  • Defenders: Jorge Sanchez (Ajax), Kevin Alvarez (Pachuca), Nestor Araujo (America), Johan Vasquez (Cremonese), Hector Moreno (Monterrey), Cesar Montes (Monterrey), Gerardo Arteaga (Genk), Jesus Gallardo (Monterrey).
  • Midfielders: Andres Guardado (Real Betis), Hector Herrera (Houston Dynamo), Charly Rodriguez (Cruz Azul), Erick Gutierrez (PSV), Luis Chavez (Pachuca), Edson Alvarez (Ajax), Orbelin Pineda (AEK Athens), Luis Romo (Monterrey).
  • Forwards: Alexis Vega (Guadalajara), Hirving Lozano (Napoli), Raul Jimenez (Wolves), Roberto Alvarado (Guadalajara), Uriel Antuna (Cruz Azul), Henry Martin (America), Rogelio Funes Mori (Monterrey).

Mexico has a nice blend of youth and experience running through their squad. There are a few stalwarts that could make an impression. Among them, Raul Jimenez is likely to catch the eye. A key cog for Wolves, Jimenez has also been splendid for Mexico and his slick movement could prove to be a problem for defenders.

Similarly, Hirving Lozano is a jewel of Mexican football, and he netted the only goal of the game in Mexico’s shock 1-0 victory over Germany in the group stages four years ago. At 26 years old, Lozano is in his prime and he could put himself in the shop window in Qatar. Defenders won’t be able to switch off for a second, otherwise, Lozano won’t hesitate to make them pay.
