World Cup Group C Odds

Group C could throw up a few surprises and there is plenty of South American flair in Argentina and Mexico. We have disseminated the odds in order from the favourites through to rank outsider.

Argentina - 4/9

Argentina to win Group C - 4/9

Argentina are strong favourites to top Group C

World Cup 2022

The two-time winners will be hoping Group C will be plain sailing for them, although Mexico and Poland may be hoping to spoil the party.

Currently, Argentina is trading as short-priced favourites at 4/9 with Paddy Power to book their place in the last 16 as Group winners, and maybe their odds are over-inflated, but they always pose a threat.

Mexico - 5/1

Can Mexico cause a surprise in Group C?

World Cup 2022

Potentially one of the dark horses in Group C, Mexico will fight tooth and nail and they could be intriguing for the neutral to watch.

Currently, bet365 are pricing them at 5/1 to advance from Group C as winners and it could be good value if you are looking to place a wager in this outright market.

Poland - 11/2

Poland to win Group C - 11/2

Can Poland upset the odds? They're third favourites to win Group C

World Cup 2022

The troubles of Poland in major competitions have been well documented, and four years ago, they were dumped out in the group stage.

Unibet has a bit more confidence in them this time around and they are currently valued at 11/2 to advance to the knockout stages as Group C winners.

Saudi Arabia - 33/1

Despite qualifying for the World Cup Finals on six occasions, Saudi Arabia could be found wanting once again.

Getting out of Group C will be something of a miracle. But if you are feeling bold, Paddy Power is offering long odds of 33/1 for Saudi Arabia to book their place in the last 16 as Group C winners.

Group C World Cup 2022 Team Profiles

Let’s now run through each of Group C’s four representatives and run the rule over what we can expect from them.

Featuring arguably the GOAT in Lionel Messi, well depending on which side of the Messi v Ronaldo debate you fall on, Argentina have all the ingredients to be crowned World Cup champions for the third time. But in the past, they have been burdened by expectation levels.

Messi — who is third on the list of Argentina’s all-time top World Cup goalscorers — is fast running out of opportunities to lift football’s most coveted prize and he will be making his fifth appearance at the World Cup Finals.

Four years ago, they were on the wrong end of a 4-3 scoreline against France in the last 16, but if they show up, then they could go quite deep in the competition.

There are a few livewires in the Mexico squad, including Hirving Lozano and he could be a menace for most defences. Mexico has been a regular participant at the World Cup, qualifying in 17 of 22 editions, but historically, they have come up short.

This time, they could well be a dark horse and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them qualify for the knockout stages.

When you possess one of the world’s best forwards in Robert Lewandowski, many fans will be nonplussed about why Poland has found major tournaments tough going.

All eyes may be on Lewandowski, but there is star quality shimmering through the squad, which is likely to include Piotr Zielinski and Arkadiusz Milik. If they can get off to a good start, Poland could catch fire in the group stages and it could be a straight shoot-out between them and Mexico to reach the last 16 as Group C runners-up.

Saudi Arabia

Although we mentioned that Saudi Arabia has reached the World Cup Finals on six occasions, you feel they will be there purely to make up the numbers.

Four years ago, they were in Group A along with Egypt, Uruguay, and Russia, but they scored just twice and they could be heading for an early exit.

World Cup Group C Predictions

This could be Argentina’s chance to shine and after so many years of promising so much and failing to deliver, they could silence some of the detractors.

William Hill is providing odds of 13/2 for the World Cup champions to come from Group C, which we assume is Argentina, but also gives outside bets on Mexico and Poland, and that might be a price worth jumping on.
