Cheltenham Neptune Novices’ Hurdle Race Tip: Vinndication Each-way Value Against ‘ Good Thing ‘ Samcro In Ballymore Hurdle
Unbeaten in six starts, three bumpers and three hurdle races, the son of Germany has had a tall reputation since joining current connections after winning a point-to-point in 2016, the evidence of which was advertised in stunning fashion on the six-year-old’s most recent outing when demolishing a field of talented novices in a Leopardstown Grade 1 contest last month.
Nothing short of a comprehensive victory in the 2m 5f event at Prestbury Park will satisfy the gelding’s growing legion of fans but at odds of 4-6 the Gigginstown-owned horse is not a betting proposition. With many of Samcro’s possible rivals holding alternative engagements at the festival the race could easily cut up, making an each-way wager on a decent priced rival the way to go, especially with most bookmakers going non-runner-no-bet.
At the 16-1 available with most firms the horse who makes most appeal is the unbeaten Vinndication from the Kim Bailey stable. A Bumper victory at Ludlow last November was followed by hurdle wins at Leicester and Ascot before the Vinnie Roe gelding was asked to step up in class for the Listed Sydney Banks Hurdle at Huntingdon on 8th February.
Sent off the 5-2 market leading against five rivals with good form to their name, the mount of David Bass was always going best and ran out a decisive winner from a decent yardstick in the Warren Greatrex-trained Western Ryder. Apart from Nicky Henderson’s On The Blind Side just about everything quoted at odds of 20-1 or less could be heading elsewhere in which case Vinndication would be in with a great shout of making the frame at the very least.
