Constitution Hill To Remain Over Hurdles

Connections confirm the Champion Hurdle is once again the target

The debate has raged since Champion Hurdle Day back in March, and today, clarity was given with the confirmation that Constitution Hill will remain over hurdles for the upcoming season.

Owned by Michael Buckley and trained by Nicky Henderson, Constitution Hill won four Grade 1 contests last season, including the Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival and the Aintree Hurdle.

Connections have now confirmed that Constitution Hill will not make the switch to fences currently. The Cheltenham Gold Cup had been mooted as a target over the coming months, but with concerns over whether Constitution Hill would stay the trip, another season over hurdles is planned.

Trainer Nicky Henderson has confirmed that the Fighting Fifth is the likely starting point on December 2, a race Constitution Hill won by 12 lengths in 2022.
