Aintree Festival Video - Inside Angle: Mersey Novices' Hurdle 2021

Mersey Novices’ Hurdle (2.25pm, Saturday)

Ed Quigley told the Inside Angle that he sees the Mersey Novices’ Hurdle as a battle between the top two in the betting – My Drogo and Ballyadam.

Ed’s narrow preference is for Ballyadam (11/4 with Paddy Power) as he steps up in trip to 2m4f although he has already backed My Drogo for the Marsh Novices’ Chase at the 2022 Cheltenham Festival!

The hope is that the better ground and a flatter track will help iron out the jumping problems he’s had this season.

The most interesting horse in the race according to Peter Scudamore is Dreal Deal (11/2 with 888sport).

Scu called six-year-old’s trainer, Ronan McNally “extraordinary” for his feats first with The Jam Man and now with Dreal Deal who has come on leaps and bounds under McNally’s care.

The market seems to be agreeing with Scu as money has come in for Dreal Deal this morning but can he take another step forward.
