Peter Scudamore's Expert Betting Tips - Coral-Eclipse

Jack Milner and Peter Scudamore preview this weekend’s Coral-Eclipse card at Sandown, as well as Haydock’s excellent seven-race card including the feature Lancashire Oaks.

Starting with the former, where it’s quality over quantity for the feature Group 1 contest over a mile and a quarter, with the previous two winners of The Prix du Jockey Club (Mishriff and St Mark’s Basilica) the 6/4 joint-favourites.

Peter isn’t convinced that either warrants complete support with question marks over the ground however and thinks he has potentially found some value elsewhere.

At Haydock, Peter is likewise keen to avoid some of the market principles throughout the card with Alpinista respected but opposable in The Lancashire Oaks with a runner from the in-form yard of Andrew Balding fancied to out-run her price.

The feature handicap is The Old Newton Cup over a mile and three quarters and, with 13/2 the field, it’s as wide-open as the market suggests. Jack and Peter dig deep into the formbook to pick out the value in that and the handicap over the same trip for 3yos earlier on the card.
