There was no change in the top three rated bookmakers with Betfair consolidating the number one rating it first earned in March to stay ahead of bet365 and William Hill in third.

The monthly analysis into money back offers featured on revealed another record breaking month for the number of free bet refunds available from the 19 online bookmakers monitored for the report.

The Grand National was the big betting event in April but with so many once-a-year punters having a bet on the Aintree marathon, bookmakers were united in their opinion the race doesn’t need concessions with free bet incentives. But, there was plenty of value to be found for National punters with lots of enhanced place terms around.

Growth in money back offers continued with another record month and thanks to aggressive marketing from Betfair, Betway and 888sport there were 1319 Total Bookmakers offers in April.

The Top 10 Findings From March 2015 Money Back Offers Report

  1. Betfair ranked April 2015 Bookmaker of the Month, 2nd bet365, 3rd William Hill.
  2. It’s Betfair’s second Bookmaker of the Month after being top ranked for the first time in March 2015.
  3. Sky dogs 2/1 from bet365 is rated Money Back Offer of the Month.
  4. BetVictor provided the best chance of a free bet refund with money back ‘if Both Teams Score Man Utd v Man City’.
  5. Betway and Boylesports provided most Unique Offers (15 each) ahead of Betfair  with 13.
  6. Bookmakers provided a combined total of 102 Unique Offers in April, 21 fewer than the record number on offer on March.
  7. Betway (203) provided the highest Total Bookmaker Offers ahead of Betfair (170) with 888sport (147) in third.
  8. The monthly Total Bookmaker Offers was 1319, beating the previous all-time record set in March by 28.
  9. Seven of the top 10 Money Back Offers in April were on horse racing with one each for football, greyhounds and darts.

10.  Five different bookmakers featured in the top 10 Money Back Offers with Paddy Power and bet365 providing three each.


Apri 2015 Bookmaker Of The Month

Betfair finished top of the Money Back Bookmaker of the Month rankings for the first time in March and held the position again in April to finish above bet365 who had won it six times between July 2014 and February 2015. William Hill finished in the third place yet again and the UK’s biggest bookmaker has never taken top billing despite being ever present in the top three.

New offers introduced by Betfair in April were money back on NBA play-off games going to overtime and Final Frame Decider which gave free bet refunds on losing match bets that went the full distance at the World Snooker Championships. Their Irish customers will have appreciated money back on the Gaelic Football finals if the team leading at half-time failed to win.

Money Back Offer Of The Month

Seven of the top rated money back offers were on horse racing but none for the biggest betting event of the year, the Crabbies Grand National at Aintree. Instead it was Channel 4 racing that attracted most free bet concessions.

The top three positions were taken by bet365’s Sky dogs 2/1 and two Paddy Power money back specials, if the losing first tryscorer scores a try at any time on European Champions Cup rugby and on Premier League darts match bets that end in a draw.

Ladbrokes had two offers in the top 10 rankings, its staple 4/1 Free Bet Special on Channel 4 races and in support of the race it sponsored at the Punchestown Festival, money back if Hurricane Fly wins the World Series Hurdle.

BetVictor provided the top rated offer ranked by chance of the trigger occurring and so was the most likely to earn customers a refund. The Gibraltar-based online bookmaker offered money back in the Manchester derby if both teams scored.

Sky Bet’s Channel 4 first race offer ranked second and Boylesports were rated third for another Punchestown Festival special with money back if hot-pot Un De Sceaux won the Ryanair Novice Chase.

Money Back Offer of the Month, Sky dogs 2/1 was fifth best when rated by chance.

General Findings

It has been a story of continuous growth in Total Bookmaker offers since began reporting on money back offers featured on its website. There were record numbers for Total Money Back Offers and total Unique Offers in March and April saw another increase in Total offers.

There were 1319 Total Money Back Offers an increase of 84.4% in the last 12 months.

There were 102 Unique money back offers available on in April. That’s 24 less than March but is the joint second highest in the last 12 months.

Betfair were the only bookmaker to increase the number of unique offers compared to the previous month, an increase of one on the12 available in March.
