bet365 didn’t need to do anything different in November. They managed to overtake their big money back rival by virtue of Paddy Power dropping its ‘Money Back If 2nd or 3rd’ offer which was replaced by ‘Money Back Fallers’ early in the month. With fewer matches qualifying for ‘Pick Your Own Money Back’ due to international football fixtures, Paddy Power dropped out of the top three as Betfair moved up to third behind William Hill in second place.
Betfair Sportsbook’s aggressive marketing of enhanced odds offers has not come at a cost to fans of its money back offers, they were presented with 10 unique offers in a total of 121 throughout November.
Betfair introduced ‘Money Back If Your Horse Misses By One Place’ at the beginning of the month and replaced it with a better daily offer of ‘Money Back If You Finish 2nd. The sportsbook also trumped bet365 and Ladbrokes with ‘Back A 3/1+ Winner Get A Free Bet’ offer, their rivals stipulate 4/1+ to qualify for a free bet with similar offers. They are good additions to a strong portfolio of money back promotions which include ‘Money Back Extra’ (formerly Cashback Extra), ‘Match Odds Acca Insurance’, ‘Both Teams To Score Acca Insurance’ and a selection of money back offers on individual football, ruby and boxing matches.
Money Back Offer Of The Month
bet365 are a regular in the top 10 many back offers with its Sky dogs 2/1 offer but rarely does the offer take the number one spot. It ranked top for the first time since January when taking money back offer of the month in November. The offer is available on very greyhound race shown live on Sky Sports when customers can get up to £50 free bet in addition to winnings for backing a winner at 2/1 or bigger.
Paddy Power had four money back specials in the top five but on previous performance, had a disappointing month. The Irish betting giant often has as many as eight offers in the top 10 due to the relatively high refund value and reasonably good chance of the money back trigger occurring but only had four offers ranked in the top 10 in November. Best of their money back specials was if Arsenal and Man Utd draw and they also ranked highly for offering money back if the Bellew v Cleverly fight ended in the first six rounds.
Sky Bet came onto the radar in October with two offers in the Top 10 Money Back Offer rankings and managed to make it three in November. Sky Bet, along with the likes of Ladbrokes and Betway, cap the majority of their free bet refunds at £25 and tend to fare better when ranked purely on the chances of the trigger occurring.
‘Money back if the Favourite wins the first Channel 4 race’ has been a regular Sky Bet offer in October and November and was rated best by chance when it coincided with the National Hunt race horse, The New One, going off at 1/3 in the prestigious Betfair Price Rush Hurdle at Haydock. The BSkyB-owned sportsbook also had high chance money back triggers on live televised football matches with ‘Money back if both teams score’ (Man City v Man Utd) and ‘Money back if Arsenal fail to beat Swansea’ featuring high in the Top 10 Money Back Offers Rated by Chance.
Total Bookmaker Offers is a count of each day there is a qualifying event for any Unique offer, so for example, Coral’s Faller Refund offer counts once for every day there is UK jumps racing. In November this offer counted as one Unique Offer and 30 Total Bookmaker Offers.
Sports bettors enjoyed a record couple of months in September and October and Total Bookmaker Offers reached new heights again in November. There has never been a better time for money back offers and the total offers for the fourth consecutive in November to 1085. The pie chart gives a graphical representation of which betting sites promote most money back offers. Coral offered the biggest slice of the cake with 157, followed by Betfair with 112 and 888sport tied with Betway on 117.
The upward trend in the availability of money back offers is also reflected in the number of unique offers last month. The figures had been showing a gradual decline during the summer but are recovering steadily to one of the best in the last 12 months. The year high figure of 103 was reached in March when receiving a boost for Cheltenham Festival and had gradually fallen away since June when there were 100 unique offers promoted on the website.
September and October saw small increases from the year low of 67 in August and in November the figure reached 102, one short of 2014’s best. This demonstrates the commitment of online bookmakers to continue money back promotions and to providing customers with a variety of money back options. Betway provided the most unique offers in November (16) followed by Paddy Power (15) and Betfair (10)
