Published: 15:05 31/01/2015

Online bookmaker bet365 made it a hat-trick in January when ranked best money back bookmaker for the third successive month in the latest analysis from leading affiliate website

It was another double celebration for the Stoke-based operator which rated the Money Back Bookmaker of the Month for January and ranked first in the Top 10 Money Back Offers with its Sky Dogs 2/1 offer to mirror its success of the previous month in both categories.

It is the fifth time bet365 has been the top rated bookmaker in the past seven months and highlights the change of emphasis at Paddy Power who previously dominated both categories. bet365 has remained consistent with its ranged of offers ever since began monitoring money back offers featured on its website while the Irish bookie has experimented with different incentives and rewards for its customers.

The report shows Sky Bet offered the best money back offer rated by chance of the refund trigger occurring. The fact that bet365’s Sky Dogs 2/1 ranked third in the same table shows January featured fewer compelling, high likelihood money back offers compared to previous months. However, it wasn’t doom and gloom for value seeking punters as the number of unique offers available increased month on month and Total Bookmaker Offers reached an all-time high.

January 2015 Bookmaker Of The Month

bet365 emerged as Money Back Bookmaker of the Month without making a change to its portfolio of offers, which may appear surprising given it was a record month in terms of the number of money back offers available to punters each day.

Betfair were one of the successes in January, moving up to second place to record their highest ever finish. The Sportsbook  is vigorously promoting enhanced odds offers in a drive for new player acquisitions and it’s encouraging to see existing customers have not been overlooked. Betfair introduced 3/1+ Special, a free bet for backing a winner at 3/1 or bigger, late in December and has continued with the offer throughout January. Football Cashback Extra and two football acca insurance offers ensure Betfair feature towards the top of the ratings most months while money back offers on the Big Bash (if a six was scored in final over) along with money back on PDC World Championship and Premier League Darts (if final check out 100+) contributed to their strong performance in January.

Like bet365, William Hill have been sticking rigidly to the same suite of offers and their Bore Draw, Goal Scorer Second Chance, Acca Insurance and Channel 4 Money Back if Second (mobile only) have been enough for a regular spot in the top three and they were ranked third again in January.

Paddy Power slipped down to fourth in the rankings and yet accounted for eight of the top 10 money back offers and provided most unique offers among the 19 monitored bookmakers. This is due to a reduction in the number of headline catching money back specials with high chance of occurring and also a shift towards rewarding winning customers with extra bonuses.

Money Back Offer Of The Month

bet365’s Sky dogs 2/1 offer pulled off a third successive Money Back Offer of the Month, the promotion is available on every live televised greyhound race and has been a regular in the top 10 rankings since monitoring began.

Paddy Power returned with eight of the top 10 places thanks to the addition of a few football match specific offers to complement its Pick Your Own Money Back offer.  The Dublin-based bookie also provided money back on Rugby Union’s flagship club tournament, the European Champions Cup in addition to money back on Australian Open tennis matches and, staying down under, money back on Big Bash games if a six was hit in the final over.

Boylesports was the only other bookmaker to make an appearance in the top 10, its Cashback if Sharapova wins the Australian Open is noteworthy for offering refunds in cash, as opposed to free bets which is most prevalent these days.

When it comes to ranking offers on the chance of the refund trigger occurring, Sky Bet has come out on top every month since October 2014. The Leeds-based firm provides a money back offer on the first Channel 4 race every Saturday. Money back if the favourite wins is a frequent choice and was top rated in the table of Money Back Offers by Chance.

Greyhound offers on live Sky dogs took second and third place, bet365’s Sky Dogs 2/1 ranking ahead of Money Back if second beaten a length or less offered by Coral.

Titanbet made a rare appearance in the money back rankings with Treble Insurance on Australian Open tennis matches. The offer has since been extended to all tennis matches and the promise of a free bet if one leg of a treble loses should prove very popular with tennis punters.
