Defending champions Egypt have been cut to best price 6-1 to win the African Nations after disposing of Nigeria in their opening group game yesterday.
The Egyptians, who have won the last two tournaments, looked good value to make it a hat trick when they went into the tournament at 9/1 and a 3-1 win over fellow dark horses Nigeria in Benguela. The result has prompted bookies to cut the Egyptians, with a best price of 6/1 now available from Sportingbet.
Nigeria on the other hand, have drifted from 9/1 to as high as 12/1 with Victor Chandler following the defeat although they are still expected to progress from Group C, ahead of Mozambique and Benin.
Ivory Coast remain the favourites but have drifted out to a best price of 13/5 following their 0-0 stalemate with Burkina Faso on Monday although their group could now prove somewhat more complicated should they fail to get a result against Ghana (5/1), with Togo’s withdrawal meaning that the Ivory Coast’s destiny will be out of their hands in the final round of group games.
Cameroon have shortened to 4/1 second favourites and they get their campaign kicked-off later today against Gabon. Their front man Samuel Eto’o also tops the betting to finish the tournament as top scorer, with a best price of 9/2 available with Skybet.
