Hot Favourite Paco Boy ran out an easy winner of the totesport.com Lockinge Stakes, under a supremely confident ride from jockey Richard Hughes.
The 8/11 shot was always travelling like the winner, apart from a few strides going inside the last furlong when Richard Hill's mount Ouqba looked threatening as he challenged on the wide outside.
Once Hughes asked Paco Boy to quicken the Desert Style colt settled the race in a few strides, to record a cosy victory in the Group 1 contest.
The delighted winning jockey said: " He was brilliant, and I virtually won it on the bridle.
" Richard's done a great job getting him back this season as he was a very sore horse last year."
An infected foot prevented Paco Boy from showing his true form when only fourth in last years' Lockinge, and trainer Richard Hannon was quick to praise his inmate saying : " He's always been on of my all time favourites.
" We have had a lot of good horses in the yard but he's different, he's got gears and he quickens."
The 5 year-old will head to Royal Ascot next for what could be a mouth watering clash, with both Rip Van Winkle and Goldikova expected to challenge for the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes.
Paco Boy also has an entry in Ascot's Golden Jubilee Stakes and with a lack of top class sprinters around at the moment connections may feel tempted to drop the colt back to six furlongs, as the horse is likely to be equally effective over the shorter trip.
Currently available at 16/1 for the Group 1 sprint, a price that would be tremendous value were connections to go down that route at the Royal meeting.
