Sheikh Mohammed's Godolphin operation caused a surprise yesterday with news that they have supplemented Buzzword for Saturday's Classic. They had previously stated their intention to enter Rewilding following his impressive victory in the Cocked Hat Stakes at Goodwood and bookmakers offer Rewilding at odds of 12/1.
News of Buzzword's entry came as a surprise, however racing manager Simon Crisford explained the decision was made following a pleasing workout at the weekend. Connections were keen to try the colt over a longer trip after staying on well to finish fourth in the French 2000 guineas. Bookmakers Paddy Power and William Hill immediately offered odds of 66/1 for the colt.
The Godolphin line up is completed by 33/1 chance Al Zir and riding plans for the trio should be announced today.
Yesterday, Kieren Fallon continued in hot form with a 44-1 Goodwood treble aboard Crown Prosecutor, Alfresco and Belle Royale and confirmation of a lively ride in Friday's Oaks.
Fallon has picked up a spare ride in the shape of Bikini Babe for in-form Middleham trainer Mark Johnston, the filly is offered at odds of 66/1 by most bookies. He also rides Mick Channon's Youmzain in the Coronation Cup looking to improve on a narrow nose defeat in last year's event. However, Fallon admits the race looks stronger this year and points to 9/4 second favourite Sariska as the one to beat.
There is still no word of plans for a Derby ride for the former champion jockey, but he is looking forward to riding one of his favourites tracks with confidence.
