Champion Jockey Ryan Moore has been eclipsed as favourite for this season's championship with Ladbrokes, after being as short as 1/4 just a few weeks ago. Paul Hanagan is Ladbrokes new 4/5 favourite to record his first championship, with Moore available at 5/4, and the only other serious contender, Richard Hughes, in to 8/1 after riding four winners yesterday. Hanagan, who was available at 40/1 back in March, has been well supported, after consistently clocking up the winners, and has recently hit a rich vein of form.. The current situation is that Hanagan is on 87 winners, Richard Hughes 77 and Ryan Moore 72. The northern based jockey had a full book of rides at Catterick yesterday but his tremendous run looked to be coming to an end after his first five mounts ( including three favourites ) were unsuccessful. However, victories with Ellies Image and Nezhenka in the final two events continued the jockey's amazing run of form. With four months still to go, and Hanagan's chief rivals having the firepower of Sir Michael Stoute and Richard Hannon behind them, this seasons' Jockey's Championship could result in one of the closest and most exciting since Seb Sanders and Jamie Spencer shared the spoils back in 2007. Rival bookmakers Paddy Power and William Hill are evidently not as impressed with Paul Hanagan's Championship challenge, and odds of 11/8 are still available with both firms.
