Bookmakers offer free bets and special offers for the final two days of the Barclays Scottish Open at Loch Lomond this weekend. Darren Clarke battled through ‘brutal’ conditions to open a three-shot lead at the halfway stage of the Barclays Scottish Open yesterday. Clarke added a four-under 67 to his opening 65 to leave himself clear of world number 41 Edoardo Molinari after the Italian added a two-under 69 to his opening 66. Welshman Bradley Dredge and Swede Peter Hedblom both shot 69 and share third at six under par. Clarke’s hopes of claiming a place in the Open Championship are much brighter than the dreadful weather the golfers had to face yesterday. He tees off just after lunch today in a three ball with Molinari and Dredge. Bookies Bet365 make Molinari 13/8 favourite to shoot the best round of the three, Sporting Bet are offering 21/20 for Clarke with Boylesports 2/1 for Dredge. A top five finish will see the Ulsterman emerge from the doldrums and qualify to play at St Andrews turning round the poor run of form that stretching back to his last tour victory in 2008. Bookmakers have included him in the Open Championship betting with Paddy Power and Victor Chandler best at odds of 80/1. World number two Phil Mickleson and number six Ernie Els failed to make the cut in the torrential rain, missing out by one stroke. Former major champions Vijay Singh, Retief Goosen and Paul Lawrie also failed to meet the 2 over par cut and will get a couple of extra practice days at St Andrews.
