Bookmakers are offering free bets to new customers on the Formula One British Grand Prix at Silverstone today. There was unrest in the Red Bull garage despite the team qualifying first and second on the grid for today’s British Grand Prix on the revamped Silverstone circuit. Australian Mark Webber couldn’t hide his dissatisfaction at having the newly designed wing of his car removed and given to team mate Sebastian Vettel who damaged his during morning practice. With Webber trailing Vettel by 12 points in the drivers’ championship and Red Bull without spares, it was decided Vettel should be given the new equipment. William Hill offer odds of 8/13 for Vettel to win the race after he gained pole position thanks to the swap. The decision irked Webber, there are 10 races left and he had demonstrated throughout the week that we was as quick round Silverstone as race favourite Vettel. Webber is 7/2 with Boylesports to overcome the disadvantage and race on to victory. Tension in the garage isn’t unusual in Formula One and shouldn’t threaten performance on the track, but there remains a question mark over the Red Bull car’s reliability and this episode won’t help. Lewis Hamilton was very optimistic about the performance of his McLaren in gaining fourth place on the grid behind Fernando Alonso’s Ferrari. Boylesports are offering 16/1 odds for Hamilton despite his suggestion that Red Bull may not be able to see out the race. Hamilton’s team mate Jensen Button suffered all day with the balance of his Mclaren and his chances of British Grand Prix success look hopeless back in 14th position on the grid. McLaren had to drop their experimentation with the blown diffuser leaving the car a little behind in its development compared to Red Bull and Ferrari.
