Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor is unsurprisingly the man who is attracting the money ahead of this weekend’s World Matchplay Title, with the 15-time World Champion priced at just 4/9 best price with Stan James.
Taylor, a ten-time winner of the World Matchplay, heads to Blackpool in fine form having already claimed the World Championship, Premier League and UK Open so far in 2010.
James Wade is considered the best option at 12/1 best price with Sportingbet and 3/1 with Boylesports in the “without Taylor” market but with The Power fully expected to illuminate Blackpool, it’s William Hill’s offer of 5/1 on Taylor notching up another nine-dart finish that is attracting the interest.
Following Taylor’s unprecedented “double” nine-darter in the Premier League back in May, punters have reportedly been showing keen interest in the nine-darter market, with Hills bracing themselves for a final involving Taylor.
“About 90% of the money that we have taken on the Matchplay has been for Phil Taylor, with most of the rest of the money being each way speculations on who will play the Power in the final,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.
Taylor is also a more ambitious 500/1 to win the championship without dropping a single leg whilst 268 appears to be the benchmark for the total number of 180’s, with Stan James 6/5 on more than 268 maximums throughout the tournament.
