Manchester City yesterday completed the signing of Serbian international Aleksander Kolarov from Lazio for a fee of around £19M .
The left back who is 24 has been a target of Roberto Mancini's for some time and the City manager was clearly delighted with his new signing , " This is an additional benefit to the team. He has a fantastic international career ahead of him. I first saw Kolarov in his Lazio debut back in 2007. I was impressed by the speed and strength of someone so young."
Mancini continued ,"I have watched him a lot since then and so have the Manchester City scouts. His attacking capability is very good. He is fast and can shoot with power and accuracy."
Kolarov joins Toure from Barcelona , Silva from Valencia and Boateng from Hamburg as the major summer signings but there are expected to be further additions before the season gets underway .
City will have strength in depth in every position and are expected to challenge strongly for the Premiership title .
At 5/1 with Bet365 and Blue Square they are certainly the value bet . City do face a difficult start to the season however with Spurs away on the opening day followed by Liverpool at home and they may drift if failing to win either of these two games .
Over the course of the season however they will surely give backers a good run for their money.
