Bookmakers are offering free bets to new customers on the wide open Formula 1 Drivers Championship which continues at Spa for the Belgian Grand Prix on 29 August.
After eight races McLaren’s formula one season was flying along with former world champion Lewis Hamilton and current champion Jensen Button racing ahead of the Drivers Championship.
However, McLaren have been unable to keep pace with developments to rival Red Bull and Ferrari cars who have dominated the last three races opening up the Championship race.
Hamilton was ousted from his position at the top of drivers’ standings by Mark Webber last week when a transmission problem forced him to retire in Hungary.
The optimistic former champion remains confident planned developments for the car will see a revival in McLaren fortunes for the remainder of the season.
"I know we can come back even stronger in the final seven races," said Hamilton.
"We have some very promising developments in the pipeline, and we're making progress in lots of other areas, too.
"We have dug deep before, and I know absolutely that we will dig deep once more."
Only 20points separate the leaders; 1 Mark Webber 161pts – Red Bull, 2 Lewis Hamilton 157pts – McLaren, 3 Sebastian Vettel 151pts – Red Bull, 4 Jensen Button 147pts – McLaren, 5 Fernando Alonso 141pts – Ferrari.
Hamilton has been driving brilliantly despite the inferiorities of his car, earning valuable if unexpected points at Silverstone and Hockenheim.
Sporting Bet are currently offering odds of 21/4 for Hamilton to win the Drivers Championship, with a more competitive car those odds will tumble.
