Betting on who will win the Football League Championship has altered dramatically following some suprise results on the opening day of the season .
Ante-post favourites Middlesbrough were deservedly beaten at home by Roy Keane's Ipswich and are now available at 8/1 with Ladbrokes to win what most observers expect to be a very open Championship . Boro manager Gordon Strachan admitted afterwards that "Ipswich played very well and deserved their victory" .
Keane of course has previous at this level having taken Sunderland to the Championship title in 2006-07 season after taking over managing the club when they were stuck in the bottom three . Pre season Ipswich were available at 20/1 but they could be worth an each way bet at 14/1 with William Hill .
Queens Park Rangers made an impressive start with a 4-0 home victory over Barnsley and are now a best price 9/1 with Totesport and 888sport . However Neil Warnock's team should be beating teams like Barnsley and they will face much tougher games .
Star man for QPR was Adel Taarabat who was signed in the close season for £1m from Spurs after being on loan at Loftus Road last season .
Other suprises in the Championship opening fixtures saw Reading , Norwich , Leeds and Bristol City all lose at home .
Whilst opening day games are notoriously difficult for punters , it would be no suprise to see Ipswich recruit further players in the next few weeks and mount a serious challenge for the Npower Championship
