Online bookmakers are offering free bets and cash back specials for Liverpool’s Premier League match at home to West Brom on Sunday. Liverpool announced they have accepted a bid from Barcelona today to secure the signature of Argentina’s World Cup captain, Javier Mascherano. The announcement comes after Liverpool rejected an initial bid of £16million for the want away midfielder and it is believed the Catalan outfit have returned with an offer much closer to the asking price of £25million. A spokesman for the Anfield club confirmed that the deal has been agreed in a statement which read: “Liverpool Football Club have agreed terms for the transfer of Javier Macherano to FC Barcelona. “The Spanish club have now been given permission to speak to the Argentina midfielder”. The press in Spain has already reported that Mascherano has agreed to a 4 year deal at £85,000 a week with La Liga champions and he is expected to fly to Barcelona this weekend to sign his contract. Mascherano has wanted to leave Liverpool since revealing his wife has been unable to settle in the UK. He was close to a move to Barca last year until his manager at the time, Rafa Benitez, scuppered the deal with an inflated valuation of the midfielder. Once Barcelona renewed their interest in the 26-year-old with last weekend’s initial bid, there could only be one outcome on the Argentine’s future. Mascherano downed tools and refused to play in Monday nights defeat to Manchester City when hearing Liverpool had rejected Barcelona’s first offer. Pep Guardiola changed his attention to Anfield’s defensive midfielder after giving up on any chance of acquiring Cesc Fabregas from Arsenal in this transfer window. Roy Hodgson has a replacement for Mascherano in Christian Poulsen who was signed from Juventus for £4.5million during the summer. Striker Fernando Torres made his first start of the season last Monday and Coral are offering odds of 11/4 for him to score the first goal of the game against newly promoted West Brom on Sunday.
