Online bookmakers are offering free bets to new customers on the US Open tennis tournament at Flushing Meadows which concludes with the Men’s Singles final on Sunday 12 September. Britain’s Andy Murray cruised into the second round of the US Open when beating Slovakian Lukas Lacko 6-3 6-2 6-2 in the first round yesterday. Murray held serve throughout the contest for a straight set victory in blistering heat in the Arthur Ashe Stadium to set up a second round match against Jamaican Dustin Brown ranked 123 in the world. Victory came in 1 hour 51 minutes against Lacko world ranked 71 and the British number one was grateful to avoid a long match as temperatures pushed beyond 40C. Murray had suffered from dehydration in the heat of his two previous Masters tournaments in Vancouver and Cincinatti, and once again found the on-court conditions tough to handle. "I managed to get through in straight sets so I'm pleased, but it was a lot tougher than the score suggests," he said. "Everyone in my box always tells me it's a lot tougher watching in the heat than playing but I'm not so sure. It was brutal conditions." Murray reached the US Open final two years ago and is available at odds of 3/1 with Paddy Power to go one better and win the title this year. The draw looks kind for the Scot until a scheduled semi-final match against Rafael Nadal and Murray will be hoping for some evening games to maintain his energy levels for the latter stages.
