West Ham have started this Premier League campaign in dreadful fashion losing all four games and conceding three goals in every game .
Manager Avram Grant travelled north with his players yesterday but will miss the game as he observes the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur .
Grant received the dreaded vote of confidence from the West Ham board this week with Chairman david Gold saying "I assure you it is a proper vote of confidence...Avram is safe. We will very quickly climb up."
However West Ham will not be looking forward to their trip to the Potteries today as Stoke look for their second home win in six days .
Against Aston Villa on Monday Stoke displayed great fight and determination and manager Tony Pulis will demand the same from his players today . Apparently Tony Pulis' intervention at half-time was key to Stoke's comeback against Villa according to assistant manager Dave Kemp. The Potters boss missed the first half after travelling to Wales following the death of his mother earlier in the day.
Former Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones showed improved form against Villa and Jones cannot be relied to maintain his form consistently he could well produce another good display in front of the home fans and TV cameras .
Stoke are deserved favourites today , West Ham havent won away in the Premier League since the first day of last season and are difficult to fancy in a game where they will be bombarded by long high balls into their penalty box .
Stoke are evens on Betfair and with Australian bookmaker Canbet and that is decent value .
