Ronnie O’Sullivan had no complaints after being brushed aside by World Champion Neil Robertson in the final of the World Open at SECC in Glasgow. Speaking after his defeat, a gracious O'Sullivan said: "He's world champion and world number one, and he dispatched me like world champions and number ones do." Robertson won his sixth ranking title with a confident performance, taking full advantage of each slip-up made by O'Sullivan. The Australian believes his game has been transformed since winning the world title in May, he told reporters: “Being world champion has given me huge confidence; I go into finals knowing I can win under the most amount of pressure.” O’Sullivan adopted a cautious approach to the game but whenever he made an error, Robertson stepped in and made it count. After winning the first frame, Robertson clinched the second after O’Sullivan went in-off to end a 43 break. O'Sullivan pulled a frame back helped by a 72 break but missed an easy pink when scattering the reds to let Robertson in to take the fourth frame with 59 break. In the fifth, O'Sullivan had only scored one point when an unlucky cannon off two reds allowed Robertson in to make a break of 66 to take a 4-1 lead. The sixth frame proved to be the last with both players making promising-looking breaks only for nervous errors to deny a frame winning score. Eventually O'Sullivan fouled by potting the white and yellow with two reds left on the table, once again Robertson capitalised on the mistake and cleared the colours to win the frame, and with it the match. Neil Robertson is available at odds of 10/1 with Sporting Bet to retain his World Championship title.
