Newcastle United may slowly be coming around to the fact that life in the Premier League is going to be an awful lot tougher than that in the Championship. Bookmakers are giving away free bets to new customers who sign up to online betting sites and offer cash back specials for the Premier League game between Manchester City and Newcastle United at the City of Manchester Stadium on Sunday. A 6-0 win over Aston Villa in their first home game of the new season did little to dampen the euphoria but subsequent defeats against Blackpool and Stoke City has made Magpies’ fans realise that pickings at the top table are a lot less bountiful and you fear for Chris Hughton’s men when they journey to Eastlands to face Manchester City this weekend. To be fair, Newcastle have done OK on their travels so far. Below-strength sides have won at both Accrington and Chelsea in the Carling Cup, and they picked up three points at Everton in the league two weeks ago. David Moyes’ team are struggling badly at the moment, however, unlike this week’s opponents. City were a little below their best against Juventus at a soggy Eastlands on Thursday but did rest one of two of their regular starting XI and you can probably expect recalls for the likes of David Silva and Nigel De Jong against Newcastle. The Sky Blues’ away form has been a little indifferent this season but they remain formidable opposition on home soil, as Chelsea and Liverpool have already found to their cost this term. City to overcome the minus one handicap is 5/4 with Bet365 and Adam Johnson, on target against Juve already this week, looks a big price at 12/1 in the first goalscorer market with bwin.
