It’s a televised Serie A clash as Palermo face Genoa on Setanta Ireland this Sunday evening. Bookmakers online are offering free bets to new customers as well as money back specials ahead of the televised match. Both teams are in the middle of a period of poor form, with the pair currently languishing in mid-table. Palermo in particular are having a terrible time and have lost the last three games on the trot. They have been defeat in their last two league games to Udinese and Lazio. Genoa however put in a spirited performance during a 1-0 defeat at home to current Serie A and Champions League holders Inter Milan. The team also lost narrowly to title contenders AC Milan and Roma earlier this season, which suggests that they rise to the big occasion but find it more difficult against the poorer teams. Palermo appear to have the backing of bookmakers and are slight favourites for this Sunday night fixture. Former Middlesbrough hitman Massimo Maccarone is among the favourites to get on the scoresheet in this one. The striker is remembered as having a torrid time when he was in England, but the Italian scored several times during the Teesside club’s run to the 2006 Uefa Cup final where they were eventually hammered 4-0 by Sevilla. Maccarone is 6/1 with bookmaker Blue Square to score first. Palermo v Genoa is live on Setanta Ireland with kick-off at 7.45pm. Odds correct at time of writing and are subject to change
