As the 2010/11 Premier League season approaches it's half way stage there still appears some value in opposing Liverpool and Everton . Despite currently lying in ninth and fourteenth positions respectively the two Merseyside clubs remain the bookies favourites outside the "big 5" to finish in the top six this season . For the avoidance of doubt here the "big 5" are Chelsea , Man Utd , Arsenal , Spurs and Man City who currently fill the top five places and also finished in those positions last term . Everton are currently six points adrift of sixth position and despite their win at Eastlands on Monday , not in particularly good form whilst Liverpool five points below sixth position are struggling to find any kind of consistency and were deservedly well beaten in their last Premier League game at St James Park . In fact Liverpool have lost three of their last six Premier League games and have won only one out of nine games so far this season . Aston Villa finished in sixth position last season with Liverpool seventh but the Villans had a far more settled side under Martin O'Neil and even their biggest fans would not tip them for a repeat this term . Sunderland currently occupy sixth position and along with Bolton are the most likely to benefit from a prolonged period of inconsistency on Merseyside . Sunderland have a far stronger squad than last season with the likes of Danny Welbeck and Asamoah Gyan scoring and making goals whilst their away form has improved this season with only three defeats in nine away games to date. Bolton have been one of the suprise packages in the Premier League this season and nobody could have predicted thirty goals for the Wanderers so far .With Johan Elmander and Kevin Davies in great form Bolton will continue to cause problems for many teams. At odds of 8/11 Liverpool are way too short to finish in the Premier League top six this season and the value is with Sunderland and Bolton at odds of 9/2 and 6/1 with Stan James . Whilst Liverpool probably deserve still to be favourites outside of the "big 5" it is likely to be a much closer contest than the odds suggest .
