Online bookmaker Stan James says it doesn't rate Paul Nicholls Cheltenham Gold Cup chances and is offering special enhanced odds for the champion trainer to saddle the Blue Riband winner at the Cheltenham Festival next month.
The Gibraltar-based bookmaker is one of the major sponsors at the Cheltenham Festival meeting in March and has put its name to the Grade 1 Champion Hurdle and the Supreme Novices Hurdle on the opening day of the 4-day meeting.
Nicholls has dominated the Gold Cup in recent times, having won the race four times with three different horses in the last eleven years and the yard is going all out again with 6 horses entered for this year's renewal.
Among the yard’s entries are former Gold Cup winners Denman and Kauto Star, despite two former champions and a four-strong back up Stan James is offering odds of 11/4 for Nicholls to saddle the winner of the Gold Cup next month.
A spokesperson for Stan James explained: “Our odds compilers don't fancy the champion trainer's chances which is why they are prepared to offer such a generous price."
