2016/17 Premier League

The battle to stay in the Premier League is often as competitive as the race for the Premiership title and this season is no different as no fewer than nine teams are seperated by only six points . Fulham in 12th position go into tonight's game at home to Chelsea with 30 points whilst bottom of the table Wolves are averaging just less than a point a game with 24 points so far .
Forty points is often considered the safety point for Premier League clubs but there is a real possibility this season that a team could reach forty points and still be relegated into the Championship . Fulham are currently in the best form of the "bottom 9" with eleven points from their last six games and the Cottagers will surely give Chelsea a good work out in the televised game this evening .
Blackpool are right out of form now and Saturday's point against Aston Villa was their first and only point in the last seven Premier League games for Ian Holloway's team . The Seasiders are in free fall and only 2 points from a relegation position and face a huge game away to Wolves in the next round of Premier League games on 26th February followed by a visit from Chelsea .
For the moment bookmakers are showing faith with Blackpool and odds of 6/4 are still available via Betfair for the drop but defeat at Wolves would surely see the Seasiders become odds on across the board . Of the teams who are supposedly too good to go down Everton and Aston Villa make most appeal at very big prices and could yet get drawn into a proper relegation battle .
Bet365 are still quoting Everton at 20/1 for the drop but the Toffee's are only 3 points from a relegation position and face tricky games against Sunderland (H) and Newcastle (A) in their next two games whilst Aston Villa are quoted at 16/1 again by Bet365 but again face tricky games against Blackburn (A) and Bolton (H) in their upcoming matches . A bet on either of these two might look very good in a month's time .
