Cardiff slipped to fourth with a late slump and must first come through a two-legged semi-final against Reading starting at the Madejski Stadium on Friday night.

"We still have a great chance to get promoted and I believe that we have what it takes to make the most of the opportunity," Jones told the clubs official website. "We know what we have to do and the squad holds no fear going to Reading. In fact, we're all really looking forward to the next two games and are very confident in what we can achieve."

Reading are bidding to return to the top flight following relegation in 2007, the Bluebirds have tasted two seasons of Premier League football in the club’s history and is eager for more.

On-loan midfielder Mikele Leigertwood has been passed fit for Reading after picking up an ankle knock against Derby. Fellow midfielder Jimmy Kebe will be assessed as he approaches full fitness after missing four games with a thigh injury.

Cardiff goalkeeper Tom Heaton missed the Burnley game due to a groin strain and will have a late fitness test. Defender Mark Hudson is set to return after being substituted in a tactical change in the same game.

These two teams have played a draw in five of their six league clashes in the last three seasons including both previous meetings this season. When it comes to drawn games, Reading hold the dubious distinction of having played out 17 draws in this campaign, equaled only by Hull.

Both sides share a similar record coming into the playoffs, having won 1 and drawn two of the last four games after starting March with four consecutive victories.
