Following their comprehensive 3-0 win over Cameroon yesterday the GB women's team are a good bet to outperform their male counterparts at the London 2012 Olympics.
Goals from Casey Stoney,Jill Scott and a second goal of the tournament from Steph Houghton enabled Team GB to book their quarter final place with some comfort and style.
There were some moments of concern for coach Hope Powell however with some robust tackling from their African opponents.Defender Ifeoma Dieke left the field on a stretcher during the second half and is a doubt for the next game against Brazil at Wembley on Tuesday 31st July.
Favourites USA have also booked their quarter final place following their win over Columbia yesterday in Group G.
Betvictor and William Hill have the Womens GB Football team at 9/1 for gold with the USA 13/8 favourites with Paddy Power.
Meanwhile the mens football team attempt to get their tournament back on track tonight when they take on the UAE at Wembley.Stuart Pearce's side desperately need to win tonight as there final group game is against the well fancied Uruguay. The 1-1 draw against Senegal exposed weakness in the Team GB defence but they should come through against a UAE team who were lucky to only concede two goals to Uruguay in their opener.
Stuart Pearce's side are available at 14/1 to grab Gold at the London Olympics but currently few would bet against Brazil the even money favourites at Bet365 and William Hill.
