2016/17 Champions League
Published: 12:26 20/12/2012
Manchester United’s Champions league odds are out to 14/1 after being drawn against Real Madrid in the last sixteen.
Jose Mourinho’s side also drifted in the betting following today’s Champions League draw but maintains its position as second favourites, top priced 5/1 with BetVictor. Real Madrid v Manchester United is the stand out tie of the first knockout phase, pitting Europe’s most renowned managers head-to-head and Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford for the first time since his £80 million move in 2009.
The draw has been harsh on all the British representatives, Arsenal (40/1 bet365) have been paired with 2011 runners-up Bayern Munich while Celtic (200/1 Coral) have drawn Italian champions Juventus who played a major role in Chelsea’s exit in the group stage.
Barcelona hardened as favourites and are in to 9/4 with Coral although their last sixteen tie against AC Milan won’t be a walkover. Borussia Dortmund, who topped Real Madrid’s group, will face Shakhtar Donetsk and the German champions have been widely cut in price with best odds 15/2 at Coral.
Paris St Germain look well placed to progress after being drawn to meet Valencia, Coral go 22/1 for the oil-rich French club to go all the way and win the Champions League. The other two ties provide opportunities for relatively unfancied teams to make the quarter finals with Galatasaray playing Schalke and Porto will face Malaga.
The first leg matches will be played on the 12/13 and 19/20 February with return legs on 5/6 and 12/13 March.
